Dream

Today, my sleep carried me into holding your body.
At first, we stood where gold sleeps; you placed your quiet trust into its vaults.
Later we walked back as one, tracing our steps homeward, where our family waited like an open hearth.
My hands lingered on your waist and hips, where the warmth of you lingered like a tender flame as sunlit silk.
You held me from behind as we walked, your arms were home, and later, like a dance, I gathered you into my arms wrapping you in the same warmth.
For a time we lost ourselves in the tide of those ahead.
The dawn broke and still my arms cradled the memory of you—a warmth too sweet to fade.
